Overview

Peloponnese is a place, you have to visit, once in your life. Surrounded by mountains, incredible natural harbors and beaches, it was the oldest home of the Greeks. Everyone passed through here (Romans, Venetians, Genoese, Knights, Byzantines, Turks) and that is why today we can see the traces left by all of them.

This land is the birthplace of myths, heroes and Gods! Even Zeus was born here.

It looks like, the light and the atmosphere is different in Peloponnese… maybe it’s the light of Apollo!  That makes you feel more hopeful and your shoulders lighter.

We will visit places, you could not find on your own. Some of them are not even at Google maps.

We think it is wonderful to fill images and emotions! For us that will be the goal!

Day 7 :

Breakfast and check out around 08:00 am
Our first visit today will be at Neda waterfalls. Neda was one of the nymphs in whom Rhea trusted her son Zeus in order to save him from the rage of Saturn (Kronos) eating his children. The gorge of Neda is an attraction of incomparable natural beauty, waterfalls, ponds and paths in a landscape, with lush vegetation.
Next stop is Vasses archaeological site. The temple of Apollo the Epicure in Vasses of Figalia is one of the most important and imposing of antiquity. The temple rises to 1,130 meters, in the center of the Peloponnese, on the mountains. This monument, one of the best preserved of classical antiquity was the first in Greece to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. Part of the frieze of the temple was detached in 1814 and is on display at the British Museum in London. They also call it "Parthenon of the Peloponnese". He owes his "kinship" with the Parthenon to Iktinos, the great architect of antiquity who built both temples.
Lycosura, which we will visit later, is the place where the oldest city that ever appeared on earth (according to Pausanias) was located. Here we will meet the worship of pre-olympian deities, those who existed before Zeus, and we will visit the temples and the museum.
Visit to the medieval town of Karitaina, where we will spend our night. Today it is one of the most picturesque villages of the Peloponnese, which is usually called "Toledo of Greece", and was one of the most important medieval fortresses of the Peloponnese. Great sights there are the stone bridge of the 13th century, but also the castle built here by the French Knight De Brigier in 1245.
Check in to our hotel and free evening.

Day 8 :

Breakfast and check out around 10:00 am
After about 2 hours drive we will be at Mount Lycaeon inside the heart of Peloponnese. Mount Lycaeon is the starting point of the worldview that Western societies follow today, it is the place of the beginning of the myths, the place of birth of Zeus, the place where everything took place. Here are the natural sanctuaries of Pan (caves) and the temple of Lycaeus Zeus.
Here is the oldest stadium (13th century BC), where the oldest games took place, the "Lycaea", many centuries older than the Olympics.
Return to Athens. We will be there around 15:00.
