In any case, Athens is not only the city of classical times, even though its appearance refers directly to Ancient Greece.

And it’s nice to be time travelers, in a city like Athens.

Itinerary

Day 1 :

We will start our walk from the Academy of Athens, one of the most beautiful and one of the first buildings of free Greece (19th century). There is an amazing fresco, with the myth of Prometheus, as well as the statues of the most important ancient gods and philosophers of Athens.
Then we will go up to the Syntagma and after passing by the house of Erik Schliemann, we will find in front of us the building of the parliament, the first royal palace of Greece. Right next door is the National Garden built by the queen. It is an idyllic park with beautiful paths, small lakes and beautiful buildings.
Through the park we will be led to the Kallimarmaro stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896. Nearby are the temple of Zeus and the gate of Hadrian.
From there we will enter the area of Plaka and after seeing the most important monuments there, we will be on Areopagitou Street. We will pass in front of the theater of Dionysus and Herod Atticus and of course the Parthenon.
Finally we will reach the hill of Philopappou and there we will see the prison of Socrates, the hill of the nymphs and the monument of Philopappou.
The view from there, of the whole of Athens and Piraeus, as well as of the sunset is magnificent!
